# Glossary

> Definitions of the terms used in Rankfield's API answers: Site Strength, referring domain, observations, release and more.

| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Site Strength | A 0–100 score of a domain's link evidence in the Rankfield web graph. See [How Site Strength works](/docs/site-strength/how-site-strength-works). |
| Referring domain | A distinct domain observed linking to the domain you ask about. |
| Outbound domain | A distinct domain the site links to. |
| `topReferrers` | Up to 20 referring domains, strongest first. Not a complete list: use [List All Referring Domains](/docs/referring-domains/list-referrers). |
| `observations` | `1` marks one domain-to-domain link in the graph. Not a count of pages or backlinks. |
| Release | One build of the web graph, named like `2026-may-jun-jul`. Answers say which one they come from. |
| `null` | The value is unknown or unavailable. Not zero. |
| `inGraph` | `false` (with zeros) when the domain isn't in our link graph yet; absent otherwise. A malformed domain gets `400`. |
| Cursor | An opaque token for the next page of a list. Tied to the list's filters and release. |
